Shallow Depth Microwaves (Under 16")

Depth is often the most overlooked dimension when buying a microwave — until the unit arrives and overhangs the counter edge. The models below have a body depth of 16 inches or less, making them the best fit for shallow countertops, narrow shelving, RV galley kitchens, and under-cabinet installations where depth is constrained. Note: handle depth is listed separately and adds 1–3 inches beyond the body.

• ✓ Body depth and handle depth are different measurements — the handle always extends beyond the body. Both are shown on every model card.
• ✓ A standard 24" deep countertop has 21–22" of usable space after the backsplash. Most countertop microwaves are 14–17" deep — check both.
• ✓ Shallow depth usually means a smaller interior cavity. Confirm the turntable diameter still fits your largest dish.
• ✓ If installing under-cabinet, the microwave's depth should be at least 2" less than the counter depth so it doesn't protrude past the cabinet face.
